What does an Odoo CRM setup need in Belgium?
An Odoo CRM setup in Belgium needs a language on every contact so offers go out in French, Dutch, German or English, enterprise and VAT numbers captured before a deal is won, consent records that follow your privacy advisor's position, and a direct path from quotation to the invoice that Odoo Accounting may send over Peppol. I design it remotely and independently, checking edition limits with Odoo or your implementer.

Odoo was founded in Belgium, so Belgian buyers often meet it early in a software search. That says nothing about whether its CRM fits your sales process. A Belgian seller deals with customers in Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels and neighboring countries, often in different languages within the same account, and with invoicing rules that start with data captured at the sales stage.
Odoo CRM is a sensible choice when your orders, stock and invoices already run in Odoo, because the opportunity then becomes the quotation, the order and the invoice without retyping. I map how your team sells and set up teams, stages, activities and multilingual quotation templates to match.
I work remotely and am not an Odoo partner. No license, subscription or development fee pays me, so the pipeline design follows your process, not a partner's standard package.
Each piece is proven in a test database with your own customers and offers before the live configuration.
A language set on each contact person, not only the company, so a Brussels account can receive French quotes for its director and Dutch ones for its buyer, checked by native speakers on your side.
Sales teams for Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels, Luxembourg and export, with rules that route website leads by postal area or language and give every account one clear owner.
Enterprise number, VAT number, legal form and billing contact required on companies before an offer is sent, so the invoice and any Peppol exchange have the data they need.
Quotation templates in French, Dutch and German with your general terms, optional lines and online signature, with each text produced by staff who speak that language natively.
Source, legal basis and channel choices on each contact, as decided by your privacy advisor, kept consistent across web forms in each language, trade fair imports and mailing lists.
A written list of the CRM functions you rely on, showing which run in Community, which require Enterprise or paid credits, and which need a module, verified for your version.

Pipeline in everyday use
Odoo began in Belgium and the company is still headquartered there. For a Belgian buyer that can mean shorter conversations about local practice and implementers within reach. It does not mean Odoo CRM automatically fits your sales model. The decision should rest on how your team sells and where your orders and invoices live.
Odoo CRM earns its place when sales, stock and accounting run in the same database. A sales rep can see that a Ghent customer has an overdue invoice, that the item quoted is in stock in the Antwerp warehouse and that last year's prices are ending, without asking the back office. For Belgian wholesalers, technical distributors, producers and equipment suppliers, that visibility is the main benefit.
It is weaker for Belgian teams whose growth depends on marketing automation and lead scoring, for a Belgian branch whose parent already imposes its own sales system, and for associations and federations whose core records are members rather than customers. For those, I set Odoo beside a standalone CRM, for instance Zoho CRM in Belgium, and price the integration either way. My Odoo consultant in Belgium page covers the platform and edition decision as a whole.
Language is the most visible Belgian requirement in a CRM. In Odoo every contact person is a record of its own with a language field, and documents and emails use that language when it is activated and the texts exist. That suits Belgium well, because the language is often a property of the person, not the company: a Brussels firm may have a French-speaking managing director and a Dutch-speaking purchasing manager.
I set the language on each contact, add it to import templates and web forms, and make it required when a contact is created. Quotation templates, email templates and the product descriptions printed on offers are then maintained in French, Dutch and, where you sell into the German-speaking east or Germany, German. Because our sessions are held in English, that wording comes from colleagues who use those languages every day, or from a translator of your choosing, and they sign it off. I supply the structure and a checklist of texts; they supply the words.
Sales teams can follow regions or languages. Some Belgian companies split Flanders and Wallonia, others split by product line and let each team cover the whole country. I agree the logic with your sales director before any lead assignment rule is written. Wider Belgian CRM design is discussed on my CRM consultant in Belgium page.
Each Belgian company has an enterprise number that doubles as the root of its VAT number. As Belgium moves invoicing between businesses to structured e-invoices carried on the Peppol network, that number becomes the key the whole exchange relies on. Your accountant tells you exactly what you must do and by when. What is certain is that a structured invoice can only be as good as the customer data behind it, and that data first appears in the CRM.
The enterprise number, VAT number, legal form and billing contact become compulsory before an opportunity reaches the offer stage. Odoo can check VAT number formats and, in some versions, look them up against the EU VIES service; I verify what your release does. When the quote is accepted, Odoo Sales turns it into an order, and the invoice is created in Odoo Accounting with the right customer details already in place.
Sending that invoice over Peppol is an accounting function, not a CRM one. Recent Odoo releases include a Peppol connection, whose conditions in edition and hosting are for Odoo or your implementer to spell out. Finance questions belong on Odoo Accounting in Belgium, and the general link between sales and the ERP on sales and ERP integration.
GDPR covers every personal detail your CRM holds, and Belgium adds its own rules for marketing by email and phone, with some distinctions between people reached at work and private individuals. Deciding how those rules apply to your mailings and calls belongs to your privacy officer or legal advisor. I make sure Odoo records their decision and applies it without relying on memory.
Each contact carries a source, the legal basis your advisor chose, the channels the person accepts plus every opt-out with its date. Forms on your French and Dutch websites set those fields automatically, as do imports from trade fairs and partner events. Mailing lists in Odoo Email Marketing are built from them, and addresses on the blacklist stay excluded whatever list they appear on. I test the cases that tend to go wrong: a contact who unsubscribes in one language and is imported again in the other, or a contact who changes employer.
Where the database is hosted also deserves a sentence in the design. Each hosting route, from Odoo Online to Odoo.sh to a server you run, stores the data in a different place, and your privacy officer may want to review the hosting region, the processing terms and the deletion procedure. I record those answers with the edition decision. For the wider view of CRM work, see CRM consulting and the Odoo CRM product page.
Without paying for Enterprise, a Belgian team still gets the full pipeline: stages, teams, planned activities and offers. Requests such as dialing from the screen, WhatsApp conversations, marketing journeys and the complete phone app have usually meant an Enterprise subscription, and data enrichment is bought as credits. Because that boundary moves, each must-have gets a written answer from Odoo or the implementer for the version you will run.
Hosting narrows the options further. Odoo Online is easiest to maintain but accepts no custom modules, so a link to a Belgian telephony provider or a sector lead database may push you to Odoo.sh or self-hosting. I record each requirement with its edition and hosting consequence in one matrix.
Because Odoo started in Belgium, Belgian buyers can often choose among several implementers. That choice only helps if proposals can be compared. Every candidate receives one identical brief built from your sales requirements, and I mark the replies for fit, method and aftercare. Once building starts, I compare what is configured with that brief and let your sellers try it before launch. The wider selection process is described on my ERP consultant in Belgium page.

Not sure which ERP you need?
Share your business requirements with me and I will help you understand the right process, architecture and platform before implementation.
No. Odoo's Belgian origin can make local implementers easier to find, but CRM fit depends on your sales process and where orders and invoices live. When those already sit in Odoo, its CRM deserves a close look; when they do not, a standalone CRM connected to your ERP can be the cleaner option.
Yes. The language sits on each contact person, so two people at the same company can receive documents in different languages, provided both languages are active and the templates and product texts are translated. Fluent speakers on your team should write or approve those texts.
Not by itself. The sales side captures the enterprise number, VAT number and billing contact, while the invoice is produced and transmitted by Odoo Accounting, where newer releases contain a Peppol link. Ask Odoo or the implementer how that link behaves in your version and edition.
Community already runs pipelines, activities and offers. Phone integration, WhatsApp, marketing journeys and the complete phone app have mostly been Enterprise items, and enrichment is bought as credits. Get the current line for your version from Odoo or the implementer in writing.
Yes. I write the requirements, review the configuration against them and test the result with your sales team. The implementer configures the live system and any modules. I have no commercial link to them or to Odoo, so my reviews answer only to you.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
