What does a GEO consultant do for Irish businesses?
Generative engine optimization in Ireland means shaping your content so ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Google's AI features pick your pages as sources when answering Irish questions. My remote work covers pages that state Irish context early, research from your own records, glossary and method pages, accurate presence in Irish sources, matching Irish and English versions and a dated citation log. Citations are never guaranteed.

When someone in Ireland asks an AI tool how a process works, which type of supplier to use or what a rule means, the tool assembles a reply from a handful of retrieved pages. Generative engine optimization is the work of getting your pages into that handful because they hold Irish substance the alternatives lack.
I work remotely with Irish SMEs, exporters and the Irish entities of international groups on the content and source side of that work. It narrows in on one element of my broader AI search optimization service for Ireland: earning citations, and logging honestly whether they happen.
Aimed at the pages and outside sources an AI tool reads when the question is about Ireland.
Pages that make clear in their opening lines that they describe Irish practice, naming the relevant body or rule, so a tool answering an Irish question can tell your page apart from British guidance on the same subject.
Finding what your firm can publish that nobody else has, such as recurring client questions, installation findings or survey results you collected, reviewed for confidentiality and data protection with your advisor before release.
Short, precise definitions of Irish terms in your field and step-by-step method pages, structured so a model can quote a definition or a step without misreading its context.
Comparison pages that set out the options Irish buyers weigh, with consistent criteria and your own position stated plainly, which generated answers can borrow far more easily than persuasive sales copy.
A map of the representative bodies, chambers, professional institutes, state agency guidance, national and regional media and directories that answers cite in your category, with notes on where you can legitimately appear.
A stable set of Irish buyer prompts rerun on a schedule, with sources, mentions and descriptions recorded each time, plus a review calendar so citable pages are updated after each Budget or rule change.

For many business topics, the web holds far more British and American material than Irish material. An AI tool answering an Irish question still looks for the most relevant source, and a page that is clearly about Ireland, accurate and specific has a real chance of being chosen. Generic pages that could apply anywhere compete with every overseas guide on the subject and usually lose.
Source-worthiness, as I assess it, comes down to a few tests:
I score your priority pages against these tests and sort them into pages to restructure, pages to merge and pages to leave alone because they serve sales rather than citation. The goal is a smaller set of strong Irish sources rather than a large library of interchangeable posts, each one easy for a reader or a retrieval system to scan and quote.
Original material gives a page its strongest claim on a citation, and many Irish firms already hold some. A consultancy may track the questions clients raise during audits. A manufacturer may record why export shipments are delayed. A software firm may see in onboarding where users get stuck, and a contractor may keep notes on planning and compliance steps. Each can become a short research note or a method page.
Publishing it needs care. With your team I agree:
Customer surveys deserve a mention. A modest, honest survey of your own customers, published with its method and limits, can carry more weight with a retrieval system than a confident opinion piece. I help design the questions and the write-up; decisions about publishing remain yours. The packaged version of this work, with its baseline and backlog, is described on my GEO services page.
AI tools read well beyond your website. For Irish topics, answers often cite state agency guidance, representative and trade bodies, chambers of commerce, professional institutes, national and regional newspapers, sector publications and business directories. Which of these carry weight varies by industry, so I build the list from your own prompt runs rather than a template.
For each source that keeps appearing, I note whether you are present, whether the description is current, and whether there is a legitimate route in: membership, a speaking slot, an expert comment, a corrected directory entry or a contribution to an industry report. Pay-to-play placements and disguised advertorials are left out; they rarely survive scrutiny and can damage trust.
Irish entities of international groups face a particular issue. Answers about the Irish business often cite the global parent's site, which may describe services, contacts or policies that do not apply in Ireland. The fix is usually a properly built Irish section with its own facts, linked clearly from the global site, rather than a single country line on a global page.
Company register details and profile consistency sit within my Irish AI search optimization work; the focus here is the sources that shape what an answer actually says.
Some Irish organizations publish in Irish as well as English, particularly public bodies, education providers and firms serving Gaeltacht communities, and exporters often run German, French or Spanish versions for EU customers. Each language version can be retrieved and quoted separately. If the Irish-language page still describes a service you no longer offer, or the German page carries an old returns policy, an AI tool may repeat the outdated version.
I manage this with a fact register. Every claim that must be identical across languages, from service scope to contact routes, is listed once, and each version is checked against it when the English master changes. Language attributes and hreflang are set so tools can tell the versions apart.
The engagement runs in English. Irish-language text is written or checked by fluent Irish speakers on your side or by a translator you appoint, and other EU languages by native speakers, never by unreviewed machine translation. Public bodies with statutory language duties should confirm their obligations with their own advisors; I work within whatever those obligations are.
If your buyers only use English, extra versions create upkeep without new citations, and I will tell you so rather than recommend them by default.
Irish rules, rates and schemes change, often after each Budget, and service ranges and prices move with the business. A page quoted by AI tools can keep being quoted after it goes stale, so every citable page gets an owner, a visible last-reviewed date and a scheduled check. When a rule changes, the affected pages are found from the fact register rather than from memory.
Results are tracked in a dated citation log. A fixed set of Irish buyer prompts is rerun across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Google's AI features, recording each time:
Because answers vary from run to run, I report patterns rather than single results, and I add a discovery field to forms and your CRM so AI-influenced inquiries are visible even without referral data.
GEO has limits. It cannot compel a tool to cite you or repair a weak reputation, and gains can fade when tools change their sources. For direct-answer work, see my AEO consultant page for Ireland, or get in touch.

Usually because the Irish pages are thin or hard to tell apart from the global ones. Tools pick the clearest and fullest source, and a global page often wins by default. A properly built Irish section with its own facts, contacts and examples, linked clearly from the global site, gives tools a better option. It improves the odds rather than forcing the switch.
It can be, if it is honest about its method and sample and answers a question Irish buyers actually have. Original findings give AI tools something they cannot get elsewhere. Personal data in the responses must be handled under GDPR, so your data protection lead or advisor should review the plan before you collect or publish anything.
Not in general. Many Irish business buyers search and ask in English. Irish-language versions make sense where your audience or obligations call for them. Where they exist, they must match the English pages fact for fact, with the wording produced or checked by fluent speakers, because AI tools can quote either version.
That page covers overall AI visibility in Ireland, including company records, profile consistency and crawler access. This one focuses on a narrower task: making your content and the outside sources around it worth citing, through Irish-specific evidence, citation-friendly structure, language parity and a running record of the sources each assistant names.
No. Every assistant has its own retrieval habits, and those habits shift without notice. I work on the factors within your control, report what the citation log shows, including runs where nothing changes, and tell you when a topic is unlikely to repay further effort.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
