How can an ERP consultant help a Bengaluru company?
Bengaluru's economy is built on IT services, SaaS and product companies, global capability centers, and electronics, aerospace and engineering manufacturing. ERP work here means project and resource billing, subscription revenue, cross-border group structures and complex bills of materials. An independent consultant defines those requirements, picks a platform that fits and keeps delivery on track. I work remotely on IST, with visits by arrangement.

I work remotely with businesses in Bengaluru: IT services and consulting firms billing clients abroad, SaaS and product startups preparing for their next round, and electronics, aerospace and precision engineering manufacturers around the city's industrial areas. Being on IST means meetings fit your normal day; in-person sessions are arranged only when a specific milestone calls for one.
Many Bengaluru companies have a structure that standard ERP setups do not expect: an Indian operating company owned by a parent in the US or Singapore, revenue earned mostly in foreign currency, and costs that are mostly people. Others build hardware with long, changing bills of materials. I start with that structure and the processes behind it, not with a product list.
Bengaluru's mix of services, software and hardware companies needs very different system designs. These are the services I offer here.
For services and consulting firms, I design how projects, resources, timesheets, milestones and time-and-material contracts turn into invoices, with utilization, bench and project margin visible to delivery heads and finance alike.
For SaaS and product companies, I scope how plans, usage, renewals and credit notes flow from billing tools and payment gateways into the ledger, with deferred revenue and recurring revenue metrics reported consistently.
Where an overseas parent owns the Indian company, I design separate books, intercompany service invoices and consolidation so both entities reconcile, with transfer pricing and tax matters confirmed by your chartered accountant.
For electronics, aerospace and precision engineering manufacturers, I specify multi-level bills of materials, approved alternates, engineering change control, serial tracking and shortage planning so production follows the latest design.
Global capability centers often run on the parent's global ERP. I help local finance and operations teams define India-specific requirements, document gaps and work with group IT on how they are addressed.
For startups moving from spreadsheets and point tools, I plan which systems to adopt now, which to delay and how they will connect, so the finance stack grows with the company instead of being rebuilt after each round.
Business first, technology second. You can hire me for one step - a BRD, a gap analysis, a vendor shortlist - or for the whole journey.

Requirements and system landscape
Delivery oversight and handover
Bengaluru's business landscape is dominated by technology. Large and mid-sized IT services companies, a dense community of startups and product companies, and the global capability centers of multinational groups shape much of its economy. Alongside them is a long-standing engineering base: electronics design and manufacturing in areas such as Electronics City, aerospace and defense suppliers, machine tools and precision engineering, plus a growing biotech and life sciences cluster.
That mix shapes ERP needs in ways that differ from most Indian cities. Many companies here have little or no physical inventory; their costs are people and their revenue is contracts or subscriptions, often billed in dollars, pounds or euros. Their ERP must handle projects, resources and recurring billing well, and connect cleanly to the HR, payroll, CRM and billing tools that tech companies adopt early. The engineering firms, by contrast, need deep manufacturing capability with demanding traceability.
Country-wide requirements such as GST, e-invoicing, TDS and moving away from Tally are explained on my India ERP consultant page. This page covers the patterns that are distinctive to Bengaluru companies.
For an IT services firm, the operating rhythm runs from contract to staffing to timesheets to invoice to collection. Contracts may be time and material, fixed price with milestones, or managed service retainers, and one client can have all three. Resources move between projects, sit on the bench between assignments, and carry costs that must be allocated fairly. Delivery heads want utilization and project margin; finance wants accurate revenue, unbilled receivables and collections; leadership wants all of it by client, geography and practice.
Billing clients overseas adds its own work: invoices in foreign currency, export of services documentation, inward remittance records and exchange differences. These need to be designed with your chartered accountant so the system captures what they need.
I write these requirements using my IT services ERP framework, then evaluate whether a single ERP with project modules fits, or whether a professional services automation tool connected to the ERP is the better choice. The decision depends on your size, contract mix and how much delivery data needs to be in the finance system. My ERP evaluation work tests both routes against your real contracts and timesheets.
Many Bengaluru SaaS and product companies are structured with a parent company abroad, commonly in the US or Singapore, and an Indian subsidiary where the team works. Customers contract with the parent, the subsidiary provides development and support services to the parent, and both entities need their own books, filings and audits. Intercompany service invoices, typically on a cost-plus basis agreed with tax advisors, link the two.
The systems challenge is keeping this consistent as the company grows. Subscription billing sits in a dedicated tool, payments arrive through gateways, the CRM holds contracts and renewals, and the ledger has to reflect all of it in both entities. Investors expect recurring revenue metrics, deferred revenue and burn reported reliably each month.
I design the finance stack around these flows: which system owns customers, plans and invoices; how billing data reaches each entity's books; how intercompany charges are calculated and posted on both sides; and which reports the board sees. My SaaS ERP page outlines the requirements, and system integration covers the connections. Transfer pricing, tax and regulatory positions always stay with your chartered accountant and legal advisors.
Bengaluru's hardware companies work with complex products. An electronics assembly may have a multi-level bill of materials with many components, approved alternate parts, and frequent engineering changes as designs evolve. Aerospace and defense suppliers face strict traceability, with serial or lot records, inspection results and certificates of conformity tied to each part. Precision engineering firms need routing-level costing, subcontracting of processes such as plating or heat treatment, and tight control over tooling.
The ERP requirements follow: revision-controlled BOMs, engineering change workflows that update open orders correctly, shortage planning across long-lead components, serial and lot tracking from receipt to dispatch, quality inspection at receipt and in process, and subcontract tracking. Many of these firms also connect to PLM or CAD tools, so the handover of design data into the ERP must be defined.
I document these needs using my engineering ERP framework, then run demos using one of your actual product structures and a recent engineering change. Platforms vary sharply in how well they handle revisions and alternates, and seeing it with your own data is the fastest way to find out.
Working on IST means there is no time-zone puzzle to solve with a Bengaluru client. Discovery workshops, requirement reviews, demos and UAT sessions all happen in normal working hours, and quick clarifications can be handled in a short call the same afternoon. That makes it easy to involve founders, delivery leads and finance together.
Tech teams tend to prefer tools they already use, so I work within your collaboration stack where possible: shared documents for requirements, your project tracker for decisions and open items, and recorded walkthroughs for anyone who cannot attend a session. For manufacturing clients, shop floor walk-throughs over video, supported by photos of documents and labels, cover most of what I need to see.
When an in-person session would genuinely add value, such as a planning workshop with the leadership team or a cutover rehearsal at a plant, it can be arranged ahead of time. It is never required for the engagement to work. To discuss your system plans, get in touch, or see my wider work with Indian companies on the India overview.

I work remotely with Bengaluru businesses as an independent consultant based in India. Sessions run during normal IST working hours over video, with shared documents and a project tracker. Visits for specific milestones can be arranged in advance, but they are not part of a standard engagement.
It depends on your size, contract types and how much delivery detail finance needs. Some firms run projects, timesheets and billing inside one ERP; others use a professional services automation tool connected to the ERP. I compare both against your real contracts before you choose.
Yes. I design separate books for each entity, intercompany service invoicing, consolidation and investor reporting, and how billing and CRM data feed both. Transfer pricing, tax and regulatory matters are decided by your chartered accountant and legal advisors.
