Why would a South African company use a Google Ads consultant?
Hiring a Google Ads consultant in South Africa is about turning paid search into quote requests and orders rather than clicks. I target the provinces and cities you actually serve, build keyword and negative lists around local search habits, judge whether Performance Max helps, match landing pages to how South African buyers request quotes, and import CRM stages so bidding learns from real business. The work is remote, POPIA-aware, and the account remains yours.

South African buyers rarely ask for a price online; they ask for a quote. They search with local words, expect a phone number they can call, and often want to know whether you deliver to their province before anything else. At the same time, a careless account pays for clicks from people looking for learnerships, bursaries, vacancies, tender notices or second-hand equipment.
I set up and manage Google Ads for South African companies so that spend follows real buying intent in the regions you serve, and each click can be traced to the quote, account application or order it produced in your CRM. Delivery is remote and vendor-neutral. We work in English; should Afrikaans ads be needed, a first-language writer on your side or at a South African agency produces them.
Each service is judged on one thing: whether paid clicks become quotes and orders your team wants.
I walk through campaigns, geography, the queries you paid for, what counts as a conversion and where clicks land, ending in a ranked list of where money leaks and which signals are missing.
Campaigns or bid adjustments for Gauteng, the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and other regions where delivery, competition or deal value differ, plus neighboring countries if you serve them.
Shared lists built from your search terms that block learnership, bursary, vacancy, tender-notice, DIY and second-hand searches, and other South African phrasing that never turns into a sale.
Pages designed around requesting a quote: clear coverage area, the details sales needs, a visible phone number and fast loading, matched to the promise in each ad.
A clear view on whether Performance Max adds new demand or mostly captures brand searches, tested against Search on quote quality before it receives more budget.
Milestones such as quote issued, credit account approved and order placed flow back from the CRM, teaching Smart Bidding which searches end in invoices.

Most commercial search in South Africa happens in English, but it is South African English. Buyers request a quote rather than a price, search for suppliers near a suburb or industrial area, and use local terms for products, vehicles and services that overseas keyword tools underweight. In the Western Cape and parts of the interior, some buyers search in Afrikaans, and isiZulu, isiXhosa or other languages may appear in particular consumer markets.
I build keyword lists from your search terms report, Keyword Planner, autocomplete and what your sales and reception staff hear on calls. Then I decide which phrases deserve their own ad groups and whether Afrikaans or other language copy is justified by real demand.
Negative keywords matter even more. Some of the biggest sources of waste in South African accounts are:
Because broad match keeps wandering into new territory, these lists are living documents, revisited on a set schedule rather than built once and forgotten.
Few South African companies serve the whole country equally. A supplier in Johannesburg may deliver anywhere in Gauteng the next day but take longer to reach the Eastern Cape; a Cape Town service business may cover the Peninsula and Winelands and nothing beyond. Showing ads nationally when you can only serve two provinces well wastes budget and annoys buyers.
Geography is therefore set to match where your trucks, technicians or couriers genuinely go:
Exporters and tourism businesses may also advertise to buyers in the United Kingdom, Europe or elsewhere. Those campaigns run on their own schedules and budgets, with pages written for foreign visitors who need different reassurance.
Every split must change a decision. Splitting an account too finely leaves each piece with too few conversions for Smart Bidding to learn, so granularity grows only as volume allows.
A South African landing page has a specific job: make it easy to request a quote or call, and make it obvious that you serve the buyer's area. I review each page for:
Conversion tracking then works in layers. Quote forms and calls above a meaningful length are primary conversions; button taps and page engagement are secondary. Later stages from the CRM, such as quote sent, account opened and order won, are imported against the original click so bidding learns which searches turn into revenue.
Performance Max earns a place when there is a solid product catalog or plenty of creative, and when the conversions it chases are trustworthy. Where sales start with a quote, Search goes in first; Performance Max then joins with your brand names excluded and is judged on whether its quotes are ones your estimators would bother pricing. When it simply recycles demand Search already captures, its budget comes down.
The Protection of Personal Information Act shapes how personal information can be collected and used in South Africa, and the Information Regulator oversees it. Three ad features in particular involve personal information: enhanced conversions, which pass scrambled emails or phone numbers to Google; customer match, which relies on uploaded lists; and CRM uploads that tie a known person to a click. Before these are switched on, your privacy notice, the purposes you state and your consent approach should be reviewed by your information officer or legal advisor. For that review, I put in writing exactly which fields leave your systems and why.
A visitor who declines cookies becomes partly invisible to Google's reports, so the CRM, not the ad platform, is treated as the true count of quotes and orders.
Follow-up matters too. If leads from ads are later added to email or SMS marketing, POPIA's rules on direct marketing by electronic communication apply, and your process should record consent or the basis for contact. Keeping those records properly is part of my South African CRM consulting.
Some sectors carry extra conditions. Financial services, gambling, alcohol, health products and medical services face local regulation and specific Google policies, including advertiser verification in a growing number of countries. I flag these limits during planning, and whoever handles compliance for you signs off the final copy.
Budget planning starts from value: what a quote, an opened account or a won order is worth to you, how many inquiries your team can handle, and which provinces and products come first. Daily budgets are paced through the month, with attention to month-end buying patterns, the December shutdown when many businesses close, Easter and school holidays. Campaigns your team cannot staff during those periods are reduced in advance rather than left running.
Ownership is simple: the ad account is opened in your company's name and billed to your company, and my login is one you can switch off. Should we stop working together, nothing leaves with me. No platform pays me a cut of your media spend.
Reports are written for owners, financial directors and sales heads:
Paid search rarely works alone in B2B; tenders, LinkedIn and events are covered under B2B lead generation in South Africa. My general method sits on the Google Ads management page, and the South Africa hub gathers everything else I offer there.
Tell me about your business and current systems. I’ll suggest the most sensible first step.

Because many service and industry keywords overlap with job, learnership and bursary searches, and broad match follows them. I review your search terms and build shared negative lists for vacancies, learnerships, bursaries, internships and similar phrases, then keep reviewing, since new variations appear as campaigns run.
Target where you can serve well. If delivery, competition or deal value differ, separate campaigns or bid adjustments for Gauteng, the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and other regions help. Where you price and deliver identically everywhere and inquiry volume is modest, one national campaign keeps Smart Bidding better fed.
Only if real searches show Afrikaans demand. In most B2B categories, English ads reach practically everyone who buys. Some consumer and regional audiences, particularly in the Western Cape, may respond to Afrikaans ads and pages. Any Afrikaans copy should come from a first-language writer on your side or at a local agency, and it stays only if it brings quotes worth pricing.
It affects features that use personal information, such as enhanced conversions, customer lists and offline conversion import, and any marketing follow-up of ad leads. Your information officer or legal advisor should review notices and consent before those features go live. I document what each feature sends to make that review practical.
You do. It is registered and billed in your company's name, and my login can be withdrawn by you at any time. History, audiences and campaigns remain in your account after we finish. Google and other platforms pay me nothing, so budget recommendations carry no hidden incentive.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
