What does a Meta Ads consultant do for German companies?
A Meta Ads consultant for Germany runs Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp advertising in a way the Datenschutzbeauftragter can approve and sales or HR can believe. I judge where Meta fits, write a tracking concept for the Pixel and server events, brief native German writers on register, flag health and job ad restrictions, and pass order and hiring statuses back to Meta. Everything runs remotely, on accounts you own.

In many German companies the hardest part of a Meta campaign is not the creative. It is the conversation with the data protection officer about the Pixel, the Conversions API and what leaves the website. When that conversation happens after launch, campaigns get paused, tracking gets stripped out and nobody can say whether the ads worked. I prefer to have it first.
Independent of agencies and tool vendors, I advise German firms and foreign brands entering Germany on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp advertising, working online throughout. My contribution is the account architecture, a disciplined test plan, a tracking concept written so your Datenschutz team can approve it, and the connection between ads and your CRM. German wording is the job of a native writer you choose; our sessions run in English.
Business Manager, ad accounts, pages and datasets are registered to your company, and my access is a partner role you control. Media budgets earn me nothing, vendors pay me nothing, and I will not forecast a cost per inquiry. You can expect a documented setup and sober monthly reporting.
The work aims at campaigns your data protection officer can sign off and your sales or HR team can trust.
Campaigns, audiences, forms and events reviewed side by side with your consent banner and privacy statement, ending in a ranked fix list and a separate list of questions only your privacy team can answer.
A document describing every Pixel and server event, the fields it carries, when consent allows it, where any tagging server sits and how long data is kept, ready for your Datenschutzbeauftragter.
English briefs naming the audience, the angle and the register, which your German copywriter turns into headlines and scripts that sound like a German company rather than a translated campaign.
Employer campaigns for apprentices, care staff, drivers, electricians and production workers, built within Meta's job ad restrictions and linked to your applicant tracking tool so hires, not clicks, are counted.
Short forms with a privacy link and one filtering question, detailed pages for technical offers, and WhatsApp entry points where your privacy team has approved the tool, each with its source recorded.
Statuses such as site visit booked, offer sent, order placed or candidate hired passed from your CRM to Meta once approved, with monthly reports built from those same records.
Fit, data flows and ownership
Approved tracking, clean structure
Decide on confirmed outcomes
Nobody opens Instagram intending to buy a heat pump or apply for a warehouse job, so a Meta ad has to plant the idea. That works well for some German businesses:
Meta is a poor first choice when buyers type an exact product designation into a search engine, when a purchase is decided by three engineers in a large group, or when inquiries sit unanswered for days. Those situations belong to Google Ads in Germany or to LinkedIn and professional network advertising in Germany.
Austria and German-speaking Switzerland read the same language but pay different prices under different rules, so they only enter the account as their own campaigns, and only when you deliver there. That boundary is written into the plan from day one.
German brands choose deliberately between the formal Sie and the informal du. Many consumer, fashion, sport and startup brands use du on social media, while banks, insurers, health providers, B2B suppliers and most Mittelstand firms keep to Sie. Some brands use du on Instagram and Sie on their website, which only works if the switch is intentional and the landing page does not jar.
German copy also behaves differently on the screen. Compound nouns and precise terms make headlines and primary text longer than their English equivalents, so text that fits in English may be cut off in Reels or Stories. Formats are planned for that, with the decisive message placed in the opening words.
Writing the German itself is not my role. A native copywriter, on your staff or from an agency, owns every word, and our project language is English. What I add is the scaffolding:
A German buyer who taps an ad lands somewhere, and that somewhere decides how serious the resulting inquiry is.
In-app forms work for a callback, a site survey or a product sheet. I prefer the variant with a confirmation screen, place a postal code field first so out-of-area requests are filtered, add a single multiple-choice question about timing or project size, and link the privacy statement visibly. The final screen states who will phone and within what period.
Your own landing page suits technical or higher-value offers. German visitors read specifications, check the Impressum and look for certificates or memberships the business genuinely holds, so the page needs substance, a short form and fast loading on a phone. I write the change list for your web team.
WhatsApp and Messenger entry points suit customers and applicants who want to ask something before committing. In Germany, using WhatsApp commercially raises questions about contact data and message storage, and the answer depends on which business tool you run, so the privacy team decides before launch. Afterwards, quick replies ask about location and timing, a named person answers within agreed hours, and the CRM records which ad started the chat, through the referral information some tools receive or through a tag set by staff.
Two layers of law meet in German tracking: the GDPR and the national rules on reading from or writing to a user's device, interpreted in guidance from both the federal and the state data protection authorities. Three practical consequences follow for Meta:
I configure the technology and write the record; the legal verdict is theirs.
Content restrictions come on top. German law on health advertising sets strict limits on what may be claimed for treatments, medicines and medical devices, and on how. Gambling, alcohol and lending have their own frameworks. Meta treats housing, job and some financial ads as special categories, removing age, gender and fine-grained location targeting, which shapes every recruitment campaign. Ads about political or social issues face a further barrier, since Meta has announced it will no longer run them in the EU under the new transparency regulation. I check the current position before any campaign is built.
A roofer covering one Landkreis or a nursing home recruiting in one town reaches nearly everyone relevant within a few weeks. After that the same faces see the same ad, reactions sour and inquiry quality drops. I track repetition per region and ad set, swap creative before results fall rather than after, and only widen the audience when CRM data shows the existing inquiries are good.
The quality signal itself has to come from your systems:
Skipping this step leaves Meta hunting for form-fillers rather than buyers. Where the CRM cannot yet hold clean statuses, my CRM consulting for German companies comes first. Reporting is brief and factual, delivered online, with calls during the German working day; the wider method is set out under Meta Ads management.
Tell me about your business and current systems. I’ll suggest the most sensible first step.

There is no universal answer. Lifestyle, sport and many consumer brands talk to their followers with du, whereas insurers, clinics, industrial suppliers and most established Mittelstand firms stay with Sie. Whatever you pick has to carry through from ad to form to website. Your German copywriter decides, and an A/B comparison settles genuine doubt.
Often, because many good candidates are not looking at job boards. Employment ads can fall into a special category that limits targeting by age, gender and narrow location, so the creative must attract the right people on its own. I plan the campaign around that, connect applications to your applicant system and measure hires, not just clicks.
Usually a clear description of which events the Pixel and Conversions API send, which personal data fields are included and how they are processed, the consent conditions, any server-side tagging provider and how lead data flows into the CRM. I prepare that documentation so your officer can assess it efficiently and decide what is acceptable.
The format is available, but your privacy team should rule on it before launch, because commercial WhatsApp use raises questions about contact data and message storage that depend on the business tool you choose. After approval, I prepare quick replies, agree response hours and make sure each chat's originating ad is visible in the CRM.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
