German search campaigns built for precise buyers

What does a Google Ads consultant do for companies in Germany?

A Google Ads consultant for Germany builds and runs search advertising that matches how precise German buyers search. I work remotely on compound and technical keyword research, separate campaigns for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, formal German copy by native writers, landing pages with Impressum and privacy links, documented consent and data flows, offline conversion import and order-based reporting. I promise no costs or lead numbers.

German business buyers search with precision. Queries often use long compound nouns, technical standards, exact product designations and the formal register that German B2B communication expects. A Mittelstand manufacturer looking for a supplier will type something far more specific than a generic English keyword, and an ad that answers loosely or in stiff translated German is easy to skip.

From a remote setup, I run and review Google Ads accounts as an independent consultant for companies advertising in Germany, including Mittelstand firms, German subsidiaries of international groups and foreign companies selling into the DACH region. Our working language is English, and every German headline and landing page sentence is drafted or corrected by native German writers from your side or a partner.

The account is registered to your company and paid by your company. No commission from Google or software vendors reaches me, and you will not hear a cost per lead promise from me. The commitment is sound structure, data flows your data protection officer can follow and reporting based on offers and orders.

What I Do

Google Ads management for the German market

Built for a market that values precision, documented processes and careful handling of personal data.

Compound and Technical Keywords

Keyword research covering compound nouns and their split forms, technical standards, product designations and trade vocabulary, built from real search terms and the language your sales engineers use with customers.

DACH Market Separation

Separate campaigns for Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland, each with its own copy, currency where relevant, landing pages and budget, instead of one German-language campaign stretched across all three.

Search Campaign Management

Tight ad groups by product or service, responsive search ads in the formal register from native writers, deliberate match types and negative lists for Ausbildung, Jobs, kostenlos and similar queries.

Landing Page Review

Reviews of headline and query fit, German-language quality, technical depth, Impressum and privacy links, form length and loading speed, written up as briefs for your web team or agency.

Data Flow Documentation

A written inventory of every tag, consent rule, stored identifier and upload, so your data protection officer can assess the setup before launch, with modeled conversions labeled as such.

CRM and ERP Outcomes

Qualified lead, offer and order stages from your CRM or ERP returned to Google Ads, so bidding favors searches that end in orders and reports show order intake by campaign.

Compound nouns, technical terms and the formal register

German forms long compound nouns, and buyers type them in several ways: as one word, joined with a hyphen or broken into separate words. Someone looking for maintenance software for production machines may use any of those forms, add a technical standard or name a specific machine type. Google's matching handles part of this, but the ads, ad groups and landing pages still need to reflect how your customers actually phrase things. Keyword research starts from your search term reports, product documentation and the vocabulary your sales engineers hear, not from a translated English list.

Other details matter in Germany:

  • B2B ads are generally written in the formal Sie form, and a casual tone can look unprofessional to many buyers.
  • Technical precision beats marketing adjectives: specifications, standards, materials and service scope persuade more than general claims.
  • Industry jargon differs between sectors and regions, so writers who know the field should draft or review the copy.
  • Negative keyword lists need German terms for apprenticeships, jobs, free downloads, definitions and do-it-yourself queries.

English terms do appear in German searches, especially in software, IT and marketing, and those deserve their own ad groups with matching pages. Whatever the language of the query, the ad and page should answer in the same one. My German SEO page applies the same language work to organic search.

Germany, Austria and Switzerland as separate markets

A German-language campaign reaches German speakers across Germany, Austria and Switzerland unless it is restricted. Those are three markets with different regulations, delivery conditions, purchasing habits and, in Switzerland's case, a different currency and a position outside the EU. Vocabulary also differs in places, and Austrian and Swiss buyers can tell when a page was written for Germany.

I separate them deliberately:

  • Germany gets its own campaigns, targeting people located there rather than people interested in the country.
  • Austria and German-speaking Switzerland get separate campaigns only if you can serve those customers, with local copy, prices or price drivers in the right currency, and landing pages that address local conditions.
  • Regional targeting within Germany is used where your sales or service coverage is limited to certain federal states or a radius around your sites.
  • Budgets are set per market so the larger German auction does not absorb money meant for Austria or Switzerland.

For foreign companies entering Germany, this also shows whether the core market responds before anything is invested in Austria and Switzerland. For German companies already selling across the region, separate campaigns give clean comparisons. My international SEO service covers the organic structure for DACH and wider European sites.

Landing pages, the Impressum and regulated products

German buyers look for substance and for evidence that a real, identifiable company stands behind a page. German law generally requires commercial websites to provide provider identification, commonly called the Impressum, along with a privacy notice, and landing pages built for campaigns should link to both. Missing or hard-to-find details can undermine trust and may create legal exposure, so what your pages must contain should be confirmed by your legal advisor.

My landing page reviews cover:

  • Message match between query, ad and headline, using the same technical terms.
  • Clear scope, specifications, process and cost drivers, with references and standards your company genuinely meets.
  • Impressum and privacy links reachable from every campaign page, including stripped-down landing pages.
  • Forms that ask only for what sales needs, with a plain explanation of how the data is used.
  • Speed, mobile usability and correct German throughout, including error messages and confirmation emails.

Some products face tighter advertising rules. Medicines, medical devices and health claims are subject to strict German advertising law, financial products are supervised, and betting and alcohol carry their own limits, all on top of Google's policies and verification requirements. I mark the likely constraints early and plan campaigns around them; legal interpretation stays with your compliance team or lawyer. I try Performance Max only after conversion data is dependable, with brand exclusions, because many Mittelstand accounts record too few conversions for it to learn well.

Consent, data protection review and CRM conversions

Germany applies the GDPR together with national rules on access to information stored on users' devices, and German data protection authorities have published guidance on cookies and tracking tools. Most business sites ask for consent before advertising cookies, and many companies have a data protection officer who reviews tracking before it goes live. When visitors decline, Google Ads loses direct sight of their conversions; consent mode respects that choice and allows Google to estimate part of the shortfall, which I label clearly in every report.

Because that review is normal practice, I document the data flows before building them: which tags fire, what each sends, which identifiers are stored in the CRM and what is uploaded to Google. Your data protection officer then has something concrete to assess. Enhanced conversions, which share hashed customer details, are only switched on with their approval.

Order data then provides the reliable signal. The inquiry form saves the Google click ID and campaign values; the CRM carries them from lead to account and opportunity; sales and controlling define which milestones count, typically a qualified inquiry, an offer sent and an order received; and a scheduled job or connector reports those milestones to Google Ads. When the ERP is where offers and orders are created, the offer number is matched to the inquiry that started it, giving order intake per campaign. My CRM consulting in Germany covers that boundary between systems.

Budget pacing, ownership and reporting

German B2B search demand follows working patterns. It drops around Christmas and the turn of the year, during the summer holidays, which are staggered by federal state, and around public holidays that also differ between states. Budgets should be paced against that calendar rather than spread evenly. I track pacing, point out where campaigns that produce qualified inquiries are capped by budget, and recommend reducing spend where clicks never turn into offers or orders. No budget figure is proposed before I understand your market; a starting level is agreed with you and revised as the data matures.

Ownership is settled before any work starts: the Google Ads account, payment profile, tag container and conversion actions are held by your company, and my access is that of an invited user that you can withdraw at any time. If an agency holds the account under its own structure, moving it into your control comes first. No percentage of media spend and no tool referral fee goes to me.

Reports are concise and structured: spend, qualified inquiries, offers and order intake by campaign from the CRM, platform metrics such as impression share and search term trends as explanation, and recommendations with each report. Definitions are written down so controlling and sales read the figures the same way. Work is remote, in German business hours, with visits by arrangement. My German B2B lead generation page covers the wider pipeline, and the Germany overview lists other services.

FAQ

Questions About Google Ads Germany

Usually not. The three markets differ in regulation, delivery, vocabulary and, for Switzerland, currency and EU status. Separate campaigns with their own copy, landing pages and budgets keep the larger German auction from absorbing spend and show which country actually produces inquiries. I add Austria or Switzerland only where you can serve customers.

Commercial websites in Germany are generally expected to provide provider identification and a privacy notice, and campaign landing pages should link to both. I check that these are present and reachable from every campaign page. What exactly your pages must contain should be confirmed by your legal advisor.

Yes. I document every tag, data flow and upload before building it, so your data protection officer can assess them. Consent mode respects visitor choices, and offline conversions based on click identifiers can work without enhanced conversions. Anything your officer rejects stays off, and reporting explains the resulting gaps.

Often not at first. Many industrial B2B accounts have too few conversions for Performance Max to learn well, and it offers limited visibility into where spend goes. I start with Search and CRM conversion import, then test it with brand exclusions once order data provides a reliable signal.

You do. The account, billing, tags and conversion settings belong to your company from the start, and I work as an invited user. Removing my access takes a moment and leaves every campaign, report and setting in place. I also leave written notes on structure and naming for whoever continues.
