What does a Zoho consultant in France do?
A Zoho consultant in France decides which Zoho apps a French company should run and then checks the French specifics: what the Zoho Books edition available to you covers, how invoices will reach an approved e-invoicing platform, whether the accounting entries export satisfies your expert-comptable, and which data center holds your records. I handle that remotely and independently, with sessions and documents in English.

Zoho often arrives in a French company through the sales team. A subsidiary sets up Zoho CRM for account managers, adds a help desk for support, and only later asks whether Zoho Books could replace the invoicing tool the bookkeeper chose years ago. At that point the question stops being about features and becomes whether the finance side will hold up under French rules.
That is where I come in. I look at what your expert-comptable needs from the system, how the structured invoice exchange will be handled when it reaches you, and whether a Zoho stack or a different finance tool should sit behind the CRM.
I am an independent Zoho consultant with no commercial tie to Zoho or its integrators, and every workshop, review and test session runs remotely.
Most of these tasks sit between the sales tools and the accountant, which is where French Zoho projects tend to wobble.
I decide with you which Zoho apps a French entity needs now, often CRM and Books first, and which can wait, so licenses and training effort follow real use rather than a bundle.
I check what the Zoho Books edition offered to your organization includes, then set up taxes, accounts and invoice layouts with the mentions your expert-comptable says French invoices must carry.
I document how invoices will be issued and received in structured form once the reform reaches you: natively, through a connector or via a platform your accountant already uses, and who supports each piece.
Before go-live I generate the accounting entries export from test periods and ask your accountant to review it, so gaps in journals, sequences or references surface while they are still cheap to fix.
I connect Zoho CRM deals and quotes to Books invoices on clean customer records, with company identifiers, VAT numbers and billing contacts, so sales and finance stop keeping two client lists.
If a French Zoho integrator is building the setup, I review the proposal and configuration on your behalf, test it against your requirements and keep scope changes visible to management.

Proof before the first live period
Zoho Books is sold in country editions, and the edition decides the starting chart of accounts, tax setup and several report formats. Before any design work I check which edition is offered for your organization and what it includes today, because a generic setup leaves more work for your accountant. Check your edition rather than trusting a demo account created in another country.
French bookkeeping adds expectations beyond recording VAT. Invoices carry required mentions, numbering must run without gaps, and an expert-comptable will want the accounting entries export, the FEC, ready for any tax audit. I turn each of these into a test case:
Some French accountants keep the statutory ledger in their own software and only want clean invoices plus a dependable export from the business. That is a legitimate design, and I discuss it openly rather than forcing every entry into Zoho. The Zoho Books page describes the product in general terms.
France is moving invoices between companies onto structured electronic formats exchanged through approved platforms, with certain other transactions reported to the tax administration. Scope and timing have shifted more than once, so I leave them to your accountant and concentrate on what the system must do when your turn comes.
For a Zoho setup the open questions are practical. Can your edition of Zoho Books produce invoices in a format the platform accepts, such as Factur-X, UBL or CII? Will Zoho connect to an approved platform itself, or will a third-party service collect invoices and send back status messages? How will supplier invoices arrive, and can they be matched to bills and purchase orders without retyping? I put these questions to Zoho or to its French integrators in writing and file the answers with the requirements.
Data quality matters as much as the connector. Every customer needs a correct SIREN, intra-EU VAT number and billing address before invoices can flow automatically, and that clean-up usually starts inside Zoho CRM. I run it as a separate workstream so it does not hold up go-live. If the vendor answers still leave real uncertainty, the requirement stays open in the log and management hears about it plainly.
Zoho operates data center regions in several parts of the world, including Europe, and the region is fixed when an organization is first created. For a French entity I check where your account lives, because moving it later is not a simple setting. A subsidiary whose parent opened Zoho accounts in another region needs this conversation before anyone signs up.
GDPR shapes the CRM design more than the finance design. Sales teams like to record everything about a contact, so I agree with your data protection contact which fields are justified, how marketing consent is captured, how long inactive leads stay and who may export lists. Zoho offers tools for parts of this work; the configuration choices and their documentation remain yours.
French payroll and its social declarations are specialist work, normally handled by a payroll provider or your accountant. I keep that outside Zoho and design a summarized journal import into Zoho Books by cost center. Zoho People can hold leave requests and employee records if you want it, but I would not present it as a French payroll engine. Where time or activity tracking is planned, I write a plain description of what gets recorded so HR can explain it to employee representatives.
French subsidiaries seldom stand alone. A group may hold a French sales company, a holding entity and sometimes a separate service company. In Zoho Books every legal entity usually becomes a separate organization holding its ledger and tax settings, so intercompany invoicing and consolidation need a deliberate plan. I design how intercompany charges are raised, where entities share customers or items, and whether group figures come from Zoho Analytics or from the parent's consolidation tool.
Migration sources vary from one company to the next: a French desktop accounting package kept by the bookkeeper, an invoicing tool that sales administration picked long ago, spreadsheets for subscriptions or service contracts. I agree with finance which history is worth bringing over, usually open receivables, payables and balances instead of the complete entry history, and keep the old system readable for audit questions.
Opening balances are reconciled against figures your accountant has signed off, and customer records are cleaned before loading rather than after. I describe the full method under ERP data migration, and the requirement work behind it under requirements gathering.
Zoho suits French service firms, sales subsidiaries and smaller distributors that want CRM, invoicing and support under one account. It is a weaker match elsewhere, and I would rather say that early:
Even then, Zoho CRM can still sit in front of a different finance system, and I design that split when it serves you better. To compare platforms before committing, my ERP consultant page for France explains the selection method, the Zoho overview covers the whole suite, and the France hub describes how I work with French teams.

Zoho has offered country editions of Zoho Books, and what is available changes over time, so I confirm the edition offered for your organization before design starts. The edition sets the tax structure, chart of accounts and reports. Zoho apps generally offer a French interface for users, but check this for each app you intend to use.
It depends on the route Zoho or a third party provides to an approved platform for your edition when you go live. I keep it as an open requirement until there is a written answer, then test the flow with real customer records. Your accountant confirms which obligations apply to your company and from when.
Yes. Many small French companies invoice from one system while the expert-comptable keeps the statutory ledger. In that case I design Zoho to produce correct invoices, clean customer data and an export your accountant can import, and I test that handoff over a full period before relying on it.
Yes, and I do not replace them. I represent your side: reviewing their scope and estimates, checking configuration against the requirements and running acceptance tests with your users. French templates and training can stay with the integrator or your bilingual staff, and I check that they match the agreed design.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
