Google Ads, London

Paying London prices only for the right clicks

How should a London business approach Google Ads?

London auctions are crowded and expensive, so every wasted click is costly. A London Google Ads consultant narrows targeting to the boroughs and journeys that convert, times ads around commuting and working patterns, separates residents from visitors and people relocating, and judges results by qualified inquiries in the CRM. I do this remotely as an independent consultant, not an agency.

Advertising on Google in London means competing with national brands, aggregators, lead-generation sites and dozens of local rivals for the same searches. Clicks in competitive categories can be expensive, and a broad campaign that covers all of Greater London at all hours can spend its budget on people the business could never serve.

For London businesses, my remote, independent Google Ads work comes down to precision: which parts of London produce customers, when people in those areas search, how residents differ from visitors and commuters, and which clicks become real inquiries and sales once they reach your CRM.

What I Do

Google Ads shaped by how London moves and buys

Each offer responds to a feature of the London market that makes generic campaign setups waste money.

Catchment-Based Targeting

I set locations from where your customers actually come from, using boroughs, radii around branches or custom areas, and exclude places you cannot serve well, such as zones with difficult access or long travel times.

Commuter-Aware Scheduling

Londoners often search near work by day and near home in the evening. I review performance by hour, day and location together and adjust schedules and bids so spend follows when buyers act.

Visitor and Relocation Campaigns

For hotels, venues, tours, schools and relocation services, I build separate campaigns for people outside London planning a visit or move, with their own messaging, budgets and measurement.

Aggregator Defense

Many London categories are crowded with directories, marketplaces and lead resellers. I study who appears in your auctions and refine keywords, negatives and ads to stand apart from them.

Branch-Level Structure

For groups with several London sites, I structure campaigns and location assets so each branch gets searches from its own catchment, with budgets set by branch capacity and performance.

CRM-Linked Results

I connect inquiries and bookings to outcomes in your CRM, so campaigns are judged on qualified leads, booked jobs and revenue by area rather than clicks or form fills alone.

Why London auctions punish broad campaigns

In many categories, London is one of the most contested places in the country to advertise. Legal services, dental and cosmetic treatments, property, removals, locksmiths, plumbing, cleaning, tutoring and many business services all draw local specialists, national chains, comparison sites and lead resellers into the same auctions. The more advertisers chase the same search, the more each click tends to cost.

That makes waste expensive. A campaign that targets all of Greater London, uses broad keywords without careful negatives and runs at every hour can spend heavily on searchers in areas the business does not cover, at times nobody answers the phone, or for services it does not offer. In a less competitive area, some of that waste might go unnoticed; in London it can consume the budget.

My approach is to narrow first and expand only with evidence. I review where your current spend goes by location, hour and search term, compare that with where your actual customers come from, and rebuild the account around the catchment and timing that convert. National topics, such as UK consent rules, VAT in ads and regional targeting across the nations, are covered on my UK Google Ads consultant page.

Boroughs, radii and the shape of a London catchment

A London catchment rarely follows borough boundaries neatly. A clinic near a station may draw patients along a rail line. A trades business may cover several boroughs on one side of the river but avoid crossing it at peak times. A restaurant group's sites each serve a short walking radius plus a few commuter flows. Central London access, parking and congestion charges can make some areas unprofitable for mobile services.

I build targeting from your own data: postcodes of past customers, inquiries by area and travel times your team considers workable. Then I choose the right mix of boroughs, radius targets around each site and exclusions. Google's presence-or-interest setting gets a careful look too: left on its broad default, it can put a Fulham cleaning service in front of someone researching London from Leeds.

Groups with several London branches benefit from campaigns or ad groups per catchment, with location assets for each site and budgets that reflect each branch's capacity. That stops a busy central branch from absorbing the budget meant for an outer branch with spare appointments.

Commuters, visitors and people moving to London

Londoners do not search from one place. Many spend the working day in central districts and the evening in outer boroughs, so the same person may search for lunch options, a dentist or a lawyer from a City office and for a plumber or tutor from home. I review performance by hour, day and location together, then adjust schedules and bids so your ads appear where and when your buyers actually act.

London also attracts huge numbers of people who are not here yet. Visitors plan hotel stays, shows, tours and restaurant bookings before they arrive. People relocating for work or study search for rentals, schools, removals and banking services from abroad or from elsewhere in the UK. For businesses that serve these groups, I build separate campaigns targeted by interest in London rather than physical presence, with messaging that answers newcomers' questions and their own budgets and success measures.

Keeping these audiences apart matters for reporting. A hotel that mixes local and international searchers in one campaign cannot see which group converts, and a relocation agency cannot tell whether overseas inquiries are worth their cost. Separation makes those answers visible.

Standing apart from aggregators and lead resellers

In many London service categories, a business's real competitors in the auction are not other providers but directories, marketplaces and lead-generation sites that resell inquiries. They often bid broadly, use generic ads and capture searchers before they reach a provider directly.

I study the auction insights and search results for your main terms to see who you are competing against. Then I adjust the account to stand apart. Keywords lean toward specific services and areas where a direct provider has the advantage. Negatives remove searches that signal comparison shopping or job seekers. Ads emphasize what an aggregator cannot offer: a named team, a physical location, specific experience in the area and a direct line to the person who will do the work.

Landing pages carry the same message. A visitor who clicks should land on a page about the service and area they searched for, with clear proof of who you are and a simple way to call or book, not on a generic home page. Where organic search can capture some of the same demand at lower cost, I coordinate with my London SEO consultant work so the two channels support each other rather than compete.

Measuring London campaigns in the CRM

In expensive auctions, judging campaigns by clicks or form fills is risky. A campaign can generate plenty of inquiries from outside your catchment, from price-shoppers or from job seekers and still look successful on the dashboard. I connect campaigns to what happens next: which inquiries became qualified leads, booked appointments, signed instructions or paid jobs.

That usually means importing outcomes from your CRM or booking system into Google Ads, so bidding learns from real results. Where consent and data protection rules apply, your advisors confirm what can be shared, and the setup follows their guidance. I also report by area, so you can see which boroughs and catchments produce revenue, not just volume. My CRM consulting work makes sure the data needed for that exists and is recorded consistently.

The work runs remotely. London mornings fall within my working day in India, so monthly reviews and urgent changes fit your schedule. I work as an independent consultant: your business owns the account, and I take no media commission. I do not promise results or rankings; I promise clear structure, honest reporting and decisions based on your own outcomes. See Google Ads management for the broader service.

FAQ

Questions About Google Ads Consultant London

Usually specific areas. Your past customers, travel times and branch locations show where you can serve people well. Targeting the whole city often spends money on areas you rarely win. I start narrow, measure results by area and expand only where data shows demand you can handle profitably.

By being more specific than they are. Focus keywords on services and areas where you have an advantage, add negatives that filter comparison shoppers, and write ads that stress what a direct provider offers. Landing pages should match the search closely and make contacting the actual team simple.

Common causes include broad targeting, loose keywords, location settings that include people outside your area and measuring form fills rather than outcomes. I review search terms, locations and timing, then connect inquiries to CRM results so the account can be optimized for qualified leads and sales, not volume.

Yes, for businesses that serve them, such as letting agents, relocation services, schools or removals. These campaigns target people interested in London rather than physically there, with messaging and budgets separate from local campaigns so their results can be judged on their own.
