How should a Philippine service company use Odoo Projects?
A Philippine installer, maintenance contractor or professional services firm should use Odoo Projects so each contract type has a clear billing rule, whether fixed, milestone or time and materials, technicians record site work in field service, maintenance contracts renew on schedule and invoices reach Odoo Accounting in a form the tax advisor accepts. I design and test this remotely, and confirm which tools require Enterprise.

Philippine service businesses often bill several ways at once. An aircon or fire protection contractor installs against milestones, then signs a maintenance contract. An engineering or IT services firm charges some clients by the hour and others a fixed fee. Each variation tends to live in a separate spreadsheet.
Odoo Projects, Timesheets, Field Service and Sales can bring these into one flow tied to Odoo Accounting. The design work is agreeing what triggers each invoice, who approves time and how site work is recorded.
I do this remotely and independently, alongside your implementer or before you choose one.
The work starts from how you sell and bill, then shapes projects, tasks and timesheets to fit.
Fixed fee, milestone, time and materials and recurring maintenance turned into service products with clear invoicing triggers, so sales and finance read a contract the same way.
Installation and fit-out milestones defined on the sales order, marked reached by the project lead and invoiced by finance, with downpayments recovered across later invoices.
Timesheet rules that staff can follow from a phone, an approval step before billing and a weekly report of missing time, so hourly work is not lost at month-end.
Site visits for installation, repair and preventive maintenance scheduled to technicians, with materials used and work reports captured on the job where your edition allows.
Maintenance agreements billed on a schedule through subscriptions or recurring orders, with renewal reminders so contracts do not lapse silently between service cycles.
Project profitability combining labor, materials and subcontractor bills against revenue, reviewed monthly with your finance lead so underpriced jobs show early.

Odoo links billing to the service product on the sales order. A product invoiced on milestones creates billable milestones on the project; one invoiced on timesheets turns approved hours into invoice lines; a fixed-fee product bills the agreed amount on delivery or in stages. The setup is simple once each contract type is defined, and messy when it is not.
Patterns I map with Philippine teams:
Construction-style progress billing with retention and bills of quantities is not native in Odoo Projects and needs customization or an add-on, which I flag before you commit. General feature background is on the Odoo Projects page. If your firm mostly sells software or creative work to overseas clients, compare with my Zoho Projects Philippines page, which covers that profile.
For a Philippine service contractor, much of the work happens at the customer's site: a condominium, a mall, a factory or a provincial branch. Odoo Field Service, an Enterprise app in recent versions, turns each visit into a task assigned to a technician, shown on a schedule and map, with time, materials used and a work report signed by the customer.
Design decisions I work through:
Preventive maintenance contracts can generate visits on a schedule, so technicians see planned work beside call-outs. If your teams are mostly building maintenance, the facility management industry page and field service solution page cover adjacent patterns.
Time and materials billing only works when timesheets are complete and approved before the billing run. Odoo records time against project tasks from the web or the mobile app, and in recent versions timesheet validation, the step where a manager approves time, has been an Enterprise feature.
Rules I agree with project leads:
Project margin depends on staff cost per hour being set sensibly. I agree that rate with finance, without exposing individual salaries more widely than intended. The Data Privacy Act also applies to staff data, so access to timesheet and cost reports is limited to roles your HR and legal advisor approve.
Every billing model ends in a customer invoice posted in Odoo Accounting. In the Philippines, invoices from a computerized system need to meet BIR requirements, and your tax advisor decides what those mean for your service invoices. What I check on the project side:
Recurring maintenance billing can run through Odoo Subscriptions, an Enterprise app in recent versions, or through recurring sales orders configured another way. I confirm with Odoo or your partner what your version and hosting choice support. Subcontractor costs come in through vendor bills linked to the project's analytic account, so margin reports include them.
Odoo Projects is a strong fit when project work, billing and accounting belong in one database. I advise caution in these cases:
I am an independent consultant, not an Odoo partner, and I take no license commissions, so this assessment is meant to be useful rather than persuasive. The Odoo consultant Philippines page covers the platform decision, the Philippines ERP consultant page covers system choice, and the Odoo CRM Philippines page covers how deals reach projects. All sessions run remotely, and the engagement runs in English.

Yes. A service product invoiced on milestones creates milestones on the project, which the project lead marks as reached and finance invoices. Downpayments can be recovered across later invoices. Retention and bill-of-quantities billing are not native and need customization or an add-on.
In recent versions Field Service has been an Enterprise app, as have timesheet validation and subscriptions. Edition contents change between versions, so I confirm with Odoo or your partner what your target version includes before designing billing or scheduling around it.
Project invoices are posted in Odoo Accounting, where the Philippine localization, journals and print layouts apply. Your tax advisor defines what the invoice must show; I make sure milestone, timesheet and recurring invoices all follow that layout and are tested before go-live.
Odoo runs in a mobile browser and through its app, so technicians can view tasks, log time and record materials. Connection quality at sites varies, so I test the screens they need on real networks and agree what to do when the signal drops.
Every business is different. Share where you are today and what you want to fix, and I’ll tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
