Requirements written from the lab, the shop and the site

Why would a Hyderabad company need an ERP business analyst?

Business analysis converts how a Hyderabad business really works into requirements an implementer can build and test. Here that often means quality control sample flows and certificates of analysis for drug and chemical makers, part and drawing traceability for aerospace and defense suppliers, and landowner shares and unit allocations for developers. I run the analysis remotely and deliver process maps, a requirement document and a fit-gap matrix.

In Hyderabad the hardest requirements rarely sit in finance. They sit in a quality control lab deciding whether a batch can ship, in a machine shop tracking which drawing revision a part was made to, or in a developer's sales office working out which flats belong to the landowner.

My remote business analysis captures those flows in detail, writing them as numbered and testable requirements, and checking each one against what a platform can actually do before anyone signs.

What I Do

Analysis that follows your real exceptions

Most generic requirement templates cover the normal path. In Hyderabad's industries the value is in the exceptions, so that is where I spend the workshop time.

QC and Release Mapping

I map how samples are drawn, tested, retested and released, who signs, and what happens to stock while results are pending, so the ERP quality status matches what your lab actually does.

Customer Specification Capture

Export customers often buy the same product against different specifications. I document how those specifications are held, which tests apply to whom, and how the right certificate reaches each shipment.

LIMS and ERP Boundary

Where a lab system already exists, I define what lives in it, what lives in the ERP and what passes between them, so neither team duplicates entries or loses results in transit.

Part Traceability Requirements

For precision suppliers, I specify how raw material certificates, heat or lot numbers, drawing revisions, operations and inspection results link to each serial or batch, in the form auditors ask for.

Development Agreement Logic

For developers building on landowner partnerships, I document how units, revenue or area are shared, how the landowner's units are tracked and how sales of each share flow into the books.

Fit-Gap and UAT Scenarios

Each requirement is scored against shortlisted platforms and turned into test scenarios built from your own products, parts or projects, so acceptance testing proves the cases that matter.

Where the plant ends and the head office begins

Many Hyderabad manufacturers keep leadership, sales, purchase and finance in the city while production runs in the industrial belts to the north and west, sometimes across the state line. The two halves often describe the same process differently. Head office talks about orders, dispatch dates and receivables; the plant talks about batches, stages, equipment and quality holds.

Requirement gathering that only interviews head office produces a design the plant works around. Requirement gathering that only listens to the plant misses commercial controls. I hold separate sessions with each side, then walk one real order from inquiry to dispatch with both in the same call, noting every point where information is re-keyed, phoned in or kept in a personal register.

Those hand-off points become the core of the requirement document. Typical findings include purchase requests raised by the plant but approved at head office with no shared status, dispatch plans that ignore pending quality results, and stock figures that differ between the stores register and the accounts. Each finding is written as a requirement with an owner and an acceptance test. My ERP process mapping page describes the mapping method in general; here the emphasis is on the plant and office split that Hyderabad groups commonly have.

Quality control, specifications and certificates of analysis

For drug, intermediate and specialty chemical makers, the quality control lab decides when stock becomes saleable. The ERP must reflect that decision without slowing it down. I document the full sample life cycle: when a sample is drawn, what tests apply, how out-of-specification results and retests are handled, who approves release and what status stock carries at each step.

Exporters add another layer. The same product may be sold to several customers against different specifications, pharmacopoeia references or extra tests. The certificate of analysis for each shipment must show the right tests, limits and results for that customer. If this lives in word processing templates today, I capture the rules behind them so the system can produce certificates consistently.

Where a laboratory information system is already in place, the analysis also defines the boundary: which results flow to the ERP, in what form and at what point, and which system is the record of truth. I do not decide your quality procedures; your quality head does. I make sure the requirements describe those procedures accurately, which also helps the validation work described on my Hyderabad ERP consultant page.

Drawings, materials and inspection for precision suppliers

Suppliers to aerospace and defense customers work from drawings that change, materials that must be certified and inspections that must be recorded. A requirement document for such a shop has to capture more than a standard manufacturing flow.

The questions I work through with your production and quality staff include:

  • How a drawing revision is released, and how the shop knows which revision each work order uses
  • How mill certificates, heat numbers or lot numbers are recorded on receipt and carried through cutting and machining
  • How material supplied free by the customer is received, stored separately and reconciled
  • Which operations are sent outside for plating, heat treatment or testing, and how certificates come back
  • How first article and in-process inspections are recorded, and what happens to rejected parts

Each answer becomes a requirement and a traceability test: pick a finished serial number and walk it back to the material certificate. That single test exposes most gaps in a candidate platform. Your quality manual and customer requirements remain the authority; the analysis translates them into system terms. See the ERP requirements gathering service for the general approach.

Landowner shares and unit allocation for developers

Residential and commercial projects across Hyderabad are frequently built on land contributed by an owner under a development agreement, with the owner receiving a share of units, area or revenue instead of a sale price. That arrangement creates requirements that standard property sales software does not always handle well.

I document how the share is defined in your agreements, how units are earmarked for the landowner and the developer, whether the landowner sells their own units or the developer markets all of them, and how bookings, collections and cancellations are recorded for each share. Construction costs and contractor bills then need to be tracked per project, often per tower or phase, so margins can be reported on the developer's share alone.

Tax and accounting treatment for these arrangements is a matter for your chartered accountant, and project registration rules come from the state real estate regulator through your legal advisers. My role is to make sure the requirements capture those decisions so the system records them consistently from the first booking. For broader real estate process context, see my real estate industry page.

Workshops that reach the people doing the work

Good requirements depend on hearing from lab analysts, stores keepers, machine operators and site engineers, not only managers. In Hyderabad those colleagues may be more fluent in Telugu, Hindi or Urdu than in English. The engagement runs in English; a team member who speaks the relevant language joins the session to interpret, and any local-language labels or forms in the final design are written or checked by your own staff.

I run workshops remotely and keep them short and role-specific: a lab session, a stores session, a dispatch session. Where a process is easier to show than describe, a phone camera walkthrough of a stores layout or a routing card on a shop floor table often explains more than a slide deck.

The outputs are the documents a project needs: process maps per function, a numbered requirement document, a fit-gap matrix scored per candidate platform and test scenarios built from your own items. FAQ

Questions About ERP Business Analyst Hyderabad

Yes. I document which tests and limits apply to each product and customer, how results reach the certificate and who approves it. The rules come from your quality team and customer agreements. The result is a set of requirements and test cases that let you check whether a platform can produce correct certificates without manual editing.

Not necessarily. Many plants keep a dedicated laboratory system and connect it to the ERP. Part of the analysis is defining the boundary: which system owns specifications, results and release decisions, and what information moves between them. That decision should be made deliberately before implementation, not discovered during testing.

I start from your customer's expectations, which your quality manager provides, and from your current paperwork. Then I write requirements for drawing revisions, material certificates, free-issue material, outside operations and inspection records, plus a backward trace test from a finished serial number to its raw material. That test is used in every platform demo.

No. The accounting and tax treatment of development agreements is for your chartered accountant. I document how the agreement works in practice, how units are allocated and sold, and how collections and costs are tracked, then write requirements that let the system follow the treatment your accountant has decided.
